Dan River

Convenient to Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Chapel-Hill and Raleigh, the Dan offers paddle trips ranging from easy whitewater to a gentle float. When other rivers dry up in summer, you can always paddle on the Dan.

Public access locations in Stokes County are at Jessup Mill (Collinstown Rd. in Westfield) Hanging Rock State Park and Moratok Park, both off NC 89 near Danbury, near Hemlock Golf Course in Walnut Cove off NC 89, and Hart’s access on NC 704. More access points are being added.
