Pinehurst Resort
In the heart of the North Carolina Sandhills, you’ll find Pinehurst, the home of golf in America. Walk beneath the whispering pines and you’ll understand the wonder Donald Ross experienced as he first surveyed the property in 1901, and the exhilaration Payne Stewart felt in his stunning 1999 U.S. Open victory on No. 2. With nine golf courses, including the Cradle, Pinehurst is widely known for golf, but the resort was originally founded in 1895 as a health resort, built as a self-sustaining community modeled after the villages in New England. A stroll through the charming Village will make you believe there might truly be healing powers in the pine-scented air. The resort features three historic hotels, a Forbes Four-Star Spa, tennis, lawn sports, shopping, biking, fine dining and of course, plenty of rocking chairs where you can simply sit back and relax.
