The perfect furniture will turn a house into a home, but finding it can be a chore. Luckily there’s a one-stop shop: High Point, the Home Furnishings Capital of the World™. In the immediate area, there are more than 100 furniture stores and outlets, including the world’s largest, only minutes apart and offering discounted prices and countless brands. Plus, the Complimentary Concierge Service at the High Point Visitor Center can design a shopping itinerary tailored entirely to your needs. And with delicious restaurants, a variety of accommodations and interesting sights in between, it’s ideal for a productive and relaxing three-day getaway.
Day 1: Sample High Point's Offerings
Alex’s House Restaurant has been a local favorite since 1980. Start your day with an omelet, waffles, pancakes or eggs made to order. Pro tip: It's cash only.
The Complimentary Concierge Service at the visitors center, located downtown, is a great resource and can help coordinate your time while in High Point. Call ahead of time so they can devote the appropriate time needed for your shopping experience.
Before you visit, take pictures of the rooms you’re furnishing along with a sketch of their measurements and features, including windows, doors and fireplaces, so that information is a swipe away. Pack paint chips, flooring and fabric samples to match with new pieces. And while most stores have one, your own tape measure will be handier.

Just a few minutes away in Uptowne High Point is Sweet Old Bill’s, a local gem where you can order barbecue, burgers, sandwiches, soups or salads, all paired with some Southern charm. Be sure to try a local favorite, the brisket nachos, topped with chimichurri, smoked corn salsa, guacamole, salsa verde and cilantro lime crema.
After lunch head to High Point Museum for the afternoon. Peruse exhibits, engage with collections, watch videos and listen to audio tours.
Return to Uptowne and jump-start your evening at Brown Truck Brewery, which hosts live music on weekends and sports a lovely patio. Take a seat in the taproom or around a fire pit outside and sample the Great American Beer Festival medalist’s creations.

Magnolia Blue is the perfect spot for your first night’s dinner, bringing to life modern Southern comfort food – like bourbon chicken, shrimp creole, slow-roasted baby back ribs and the dirty bird sandwich (a Magnolia Blue specialty) – that will leave your taste buds tingling. End your evening sipping a fresh cocktail with your meal on the second-floor rooftop patio while taking in a stunning High Point sunset.
When it's time to tuck in, choose from the J.H. Adams Inn, whose original owner ran one of the country’s largest hosiery mills and is centrally located to all your shopping. Or Seven Oaks Bed and Breakfast, which was originally part of a large tobacco farm, or Pandora’s Manor, a boutique hotel where a different designer decorated each room.
Day 2: Shop Until You Drop
Start your day with Southern staples such as gravy biscuits or a Pig and Pimento Cheese omelet at Tom’s Place Restaurant.
Onto shopping! Start at Braxton Culler, a local furniture manufacturer with NC’s largest selection of wicker and rattan furniture. If you have time afterward, browse Capa Imports, an award-winning retailer in rugs, furniture accessories, pillows and more with unbelievable prices. That also puts you close to Stock + Grain Assembly, a food hall with a variety of awesome options.
Etc. for the Home is next on the list. It sources high-end furniture market samples at value-driven prices offered directly to the consumer.
Unwind from your day of shopping with a glass of wine, custom cocktail or locally brewed beer in the High Point Social District. The designated areas of both Uptowne and downtown invite you to enjoy your drinks while experiencing different venues, like Nomad Wine Works, an urban winery offering cider, wine and mead; The Blooming Board, which serves mouth-watering charcuterie boards to enjoy with your beverages; or the new Fox & Rocks, bringing you the best in casual menswear, unique accessories, plus a lounge and bar where you can kick back with a great drink.
For your Day 2 finale, find Asian fusion dishes in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere at 98 Asian Bistro. Some favorite items from locals include the flounder with calamari appetizer, and fried green beans and sweet mango rice.

Day 3: Finish Big — from Breakfast Biscuits to World's Largest Furniture Store
The line winding from Biscuit Factory is a testament to the taste of its giant fluffy and buttery biscuits. Choose from 15 varieties of biscuits and order coffee — you’ll need the energy today.
Furnitureland South is the world’s largest furniture store. To shop the more than 1 million square feet without missing anything, follow the store map in the shopping guide, which you’ll receive upon arrival. It directs you to the showroom’s manufacturer-specific galleries. Take your time, and don’t fret if you don’t see exactly what you want. Many pieces are available in different finishes and upholstery, so ask about options. It’s easy to have your purchases delivered home — a service many local furniture stores offer, a handy option if you flew in.
Furnitureland South can consume an entire day. And while a quick bite onsite will get you back on the showroom floors sooner, slipping out to nearby Jamestown for a leisurely lunch offers the chance to contemplate possible furniture choices and enjoy good eats. Southern Roots, for example, uses local ingredients in its entrees, pizzas, sandwiches and salads.
If you’re searching for low prices on rugs, home office, home entertainment or outdoor furniture, head to Furnitureland’s 300,000-square-foot outlet displaying more than 100,000 items available immediately. Furnitureland’s Sleepland has mattresses, and the biggest discounts are in the outlet’s top floor clearance section. Another nearby option is International Manufacturers Showroom across the street — the prices on its market samples and furniture are worth checking out.
The steaks and cocktails are enough reason to drive back across High Point for dinner at the two-story, open-atrium steakhouse Steak Street. And if you have room left after dinner, visit Uncle Cheesecake for a slice of light, smooth and delicately sweet Carolina-style cheesecake from "Chopped" finalist Daniel MonkonJay Gray.
